Mypree Recordz debuts ‘No Love’ project
With two songs in rotation from his debut musical juggling project 'No Love', US- based music producer Granspen is committed to exposing new talent.
Granspen, given name Glenford Shepherd, is originally from Portland and admitted that he enjoys bringing attention to new artistes. He is poised to promote up-and-coming artistes 1Kcama and Bahd Trulii. Both are signed to his label Mypree Recordz and have songs on the 'No Love' rhythm, with 1Kcama having the title track and Bahd Trulii delivering Promise.
Granspen admitted that he was intrigued by 1Kcama's raw talent and shared how the link was made.
"The first time I heard 1Kcama's vocals and the way he put his lyrics together I was amazed, so I reached out to [recording artiste] Fya Doops who posted 1Kcama's video on his Facebook [page] and I told him I love the song and he gave me his number. I called him and he said he had no manager and no producer, and his voice needed to be heard. So I told him I'm going to do my best to let the world hear him and he replied that he was grateful," Granspen shared.
He further explained that 1Kcama introduced him to Bahd Trulii, and that was the beginning of Mypree Recordz.
"After hearing Bahd Trulii sing, I only needed to head to the studio with these two youths," he added.
Granspen said he has been active in music for the past nine months but quickly admitted that this was his biggest musical project to date. He said he looks for particular qualities in artistes before he decides to record them.
"My decision is based on the artiste's lyrical content. They have to be clean, motivated and positive. They have to have versatility and believe in their work and [be] willing to push it further," he said.
The project also features Gage with Worry Bout Wah, while there are other songs by Fya Doops, Pwile Chile and Versi.
