Dancehall artiste Future Fambo is making light of his nearly 70-pound weight loss, which he says has its roots in him being diabetic.

The Rum and Red Bull singer, who makes no secret of his love for all things alcohol, is insisting that his slimmed down self has nothing to do with rum, and was steadfast in his assertions that he feels better.

"All these years me a live mi cyaan always big and fat suh. God will mawga yuh down," Future Fambo declared.

"I know that I am diabetic ... my mother and my uncle, Zac from the Astronauts, both have it. I used to take metformin [diabetes drug] but I stopped. And, especially after my mother died, mi just seh ... whatever, mek it kill mi. But I don't really mean it, so I'm going to start taking back the medicine and eating right," the veteran dancehall artiste said.

Fambo's 85-year-old mother Phoebe Henry passed away last December in St Ann, and the singer shared that with him being a mama's boy, he was devastated.

"It did rough pon mi, but I have to give thanks to Sean Paul, Bounty Killer and Chris Martin ... especially Sean ... a dem bury my mother. But back to this diabetes ting. Mi do a video other day and di people dem seh mi mawga dung. But to me, I'm sexy. A long time me did waan wear dem skinny jeans. For example, if me was 250 pounds, mi lose bout 70 [pounds]. People a seh dis and dat," he said, noting that there was no truth to allegations of him doing hard drugs and it affecting his health.

Future Fambo confessed that with regards to drugs he will sometimes "dibble and dabble".

Future Fambo, who prefers to spend his time in the US, is currently working on a series of new songs, as well as an album which will be released on Sean Paul's label, Dutty Rock. A collaboration with him and Sean Paul is expected to be released soon and he says that he is "happy for the future".

"That song a go tek over the place ... and mi have others that bad to. I am 51 years old, mi buss from me a 20. I baptised at 15. Me never know seh me woulda live to see dem age here. Me think seh God woulda kill me long time. But life is the greatest. I don't have anything to show out of music but couple gold chain and some Louis Vuitton. The greatest thing I have is my kids.
