Rising recording artiste Slick Gawd says his aim is to provide uplifting and conscious music as a way of inspiring his listeners.

The entertainer, whose given name is Rajani Jackson, said music has the power to change the world in a negative or positive manner.

"We have a role to play in this world. Some music, when yuh listen to it under a vibes, you feel powerful, like yuh really can do what the song says. Music will make you do bad and good things. It is powerful, and while it motivates you, it can also lead you to do negative stuff. So we as entertainers have to be careful of the material that we put out there," he said.

He is promoting his latest single titled Pain. The track, which is produced by Be Real Music, speaks about some of the struggles that he has encountered throughout his life.

"Da song here come 'bout when mi just a sit down and a memba some tings weh people do mi inna life. Mi basically a tell part of mi life story in that single. Mi expect it to reach really far because it real," Slick Gawd explained.

The 23-year-old artiste is a native of Mandeville, Manchester. His love for music dates back to the days when he was a member of both the school and church choirs.

"It kinda exciting when you go out there and see say people want to know you and listen yuh songs. But then, there are people who doubt mi same way. Sometimes dem say some things, and it nah really uplift mi; it's like it a bring mi down. Sometimes dem say mi nuh need to sound better, or da song deh nuh sound good; and it's not what they say, it's how they say it," the entertainer said.

But he said that he tries harder every time he thinks about his family and how he wants to assist them, even though he's not making the amount of money that he wants.

"But mi still a push on same way," he added. Slick Gawd is also promoting other singles such as Dark Road and Making Money.
