Amid tears, pain, and a shattered heart, gospel minister Apostle Donald Purge discovered a new calling in music. Known by his stage name, Apostle Purge, he never imagined a career in music, but he believes it came to him through divine intervention.

"The singing started after a devastating time in our lives when everything was turned upside down," Apostle Purge shared. "After 25 years of marriage, we were finally expecting our first children--twins, a boy, and a girl. We were overjoyed, making plans and preparing for their arrival. But tragically, the babies were born prematurely at five and a half months, and we lost both of them. It shattered our hearts and our world."

In the wake of this heartache, Apostle Purge found solace in music. He began whistling, humming, and singing, almost instinctively. "It started making sense," he recalled. "When Angel, my wife, heard it, she said, 'D, that sounds good.' We began singing together, and she suggested we go to the studio."

Lady Angel, who has always found comfort in singing, said the music arrived just in time to help them cope with their grief. "I believe the Lord gave him these songs not just for both of us but especially for me. It worked. I'm enjoying every song, every moment in the studio. It's been a fun and healing process," she said.

Apostle Purge sees this musical journey as one designed by faith. "The Lord started giving me songs in my dreams, during church, on planes, in so many different ways," he said.

Even after 26 years of marriage, their relationship remains filled with "deep passion and great admiration" for each other. Proudly calling Lady Angel his "life partner to eternity," Apostle Purge acknowledges that this musical path wouldn't have been possible without her. "She's the real singer and songwriter--very good, excellent. I never saw myself as a singer or songwriter and never thought I could write and perform a song for the world to hear and be blessed by it," said the former jeweller.

The transition to music has been "good but different from ministering," Apostle Purge admitted, but he's grateful for the opportunity to "bless hearts and save souls, not just through preaching but through songs." Many of their tracks are inspired by life experiences and Holy Ghost-filled moments during church services, including two of their most popular songs, Worthy is the Lamb and Holy Ghost In My House.

"A man of God once told me, 'If some people won't listen to your preaching, they'll listen to your singing.' So it's crucial to get good, solid gospel music out there that can touch people's hearts and lead them to conversion," Apostle Purge said. "Even at a gospel concert, the songs should move you so deeply that you want to ask for baptism right then and there."

Despite his jovial personality and new musical journey, Apostle Purge is committed to upholding the standards of the Bible. The couple plans to release their first gospel album through a concert under their label, Purge Records, and they hope to collaborate with international gospel artiste Jonathan Nelson. Their latest single, Leap For Joy, has garnered over a million views on YouTube since its release four months ago.

Born and raised in Stony Hill, St Andrew, Apostle Purge has ministered extensively in countries like Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, the Cayman Islands, England, and the United States for more than 14 years. He currently resides in the US, where he leads the House of Miracles Apostolic Church International, with branches in Jamaica, St Lucia, and Canada.
