Tristan Rayon Nelson finds buzz with ‘Sugar Cane’
Recording artiste Tristan Rayon Nelson has debuted the official music video for his Afrobeats-inspired track, Sugar Cane.
The video premiered on August 9, three months after the release of the official audio. Nelson explained that shooting the video was a memorable experience.
"On that day I wore many hats. But what was fun was that the ladies put their all into it, and the Prince Valley Guesthouse was an overall beauty," he said. The music video was directed by Mykal Cushnie, edited and coloured by Nelson, while the director of photography was Jeremy Rogers.
Nelson is a past student of Morant Bay High School in St Thomas, where, he said, his interest in the field piqued when he earned his first music certification. He thereafter sought to hone his craft. Nelson was also inspired by musician Sly Dunbar and sound system VIP Winston 'Wee Pow' Powell, who have undoubtedly created their own legacies in the Jamaican music sphere. Since the release of Sugar Cane, the entertainer has been receiving steady support from fans and disc jockeys alike. He expressed hope that the upward trajectory will continue.
"My hope for this song is to let everyone know that there is still real talent out there that promotes a fun union between couples. Actually, in the first part of my video, it was shown how women should be nurtured," he said. As he plans to have a sustainable music career, Nelson is currently putting in the work to ensure his vision is realised.
"I am currently going to school to further myself in the field. I have a song that I am pushing to release in October with Sly Dunbar on drums - a real stalwart of a hitmaker - and I really want to share this with the world," he said.
