Shenseea ‘excited’ for first birthday party ‘a yawd’
'Shen Yengs' will be in for a treat this Friday as fans anticipate the first staging of international 'Dancehall Princess' Shenseea's birthday party, which the talented songstress said is creating quite a "buzz".
"It's my first birthday party ever I think. That's a part of the buzz, as well as I haven't performed here in a while and definitely haven't performed any of the new singles from the album here. So I think my Shen Yengs are just excited to see me," an ecstatic Shenseea told THE STAR. When asked what she is most looking forward to enjoying with her local supporters, the Loyalty artiste responded: "I love hearing my fans sing my lyrics back to me and see them feel the music and enjoy themselves, so for me that's going to be extra special."
The event, which is dubbed 'Shenseea Birthday Festival', is set to take place on Friday, September 27 at the Plantation Cove, St Ann, and promises to have "guest appearances by friends from all around the world". With the musical juggling set to be in full gear by renowned deejays Bishop Escobar, DJ Shukkle Bus and DJ Black Boi among others, the singer said fans can come prepare to have a great time.
Though remaining tight-lipped about naming the artistes/celebrities who will be in attendance, the dancehall diva promised that this will definitely be a "top tier" birthday party to remember.
"I've seen the setup and was instrumental in how the place is gonna look and that in itself will be an experience...then I'm also very adamant about the vibe of the event. So I've spoken to all my DJs. I want us to party, sweat and have fun. I want everyone to be in the moment and to actually enjoy themselves. Just be there and don't miss it," Shenseea stated.
The Die For You singer stressed that sharing this special celebration with her loyal supporters back home "means everything".
"I am Jamaican, so to have my very first birthday party here means absolutely everything to me. Also to know that my core Shen Yengs who started with me from day one will also be here, is very exciting," she shared.
The singer's recent single Dating Szn has sparked a mix of controversial responses. In it she speaks of dating two men simultaneously, which, as a woman, will help her choose. Shenseea responded to what some consider the double standard criticisms.
"Everything in life, especially now with social media, breeds criticism and I'm no stranger to it. All I'll say is to each his own. But ladies, you know what I'm saying is true. Some people are just not ready for that conversation. If you're young, find out what and who you really want before you settle," she advised.
As it relates to the Billboard-charting dancehall artiste's musical journey, she revealed that she has started working on her third album and will be going on tour with American singer/songwriter/rapper, Jhene Aiko soon.
"So that's pretty amazing for me. I wasn't planning on touring anytime soon but this opportunity came up, so Shen Yengs, look out for me," she said.
