Shawn Storm gears up for intimate birthday bash
Dancehall artiste Shawn Storm is set to host his "intimate" birthday party celebration this Saturday, which will be hosted by Vybz Kartel.
The celebration marks the artiste's first birthday after being incarcerated, and he shared that he's mostly looking forward to sharing the experience with close family, friends and fans.
"Mi deeven know how fi feel about celebrating it, honestly, because a mean, a di first one. Mi nuh know how mi ago celebrate it ... it ago be one busy day. Mi daughter, mi family [and] mi friend dem can't wait fi di event. A bare people a anticipate it, yuh nuh, worse a 'Worl Boss' [Kartel] a host it, suh a dat addi ting," said Shawn Storm.
"Dem [supporters] ago see wi a hold a vibes and dem ago can hold a vibes wid we as well, but there will be no performance - it's an intimate gathering," he stressed. "Just expect a family gathering, a family setting with love, happiness, laughter, celebrating life; all good things - expect dat." He added that he's personally looking forward to "celebrate life, meet and greet with fans and just be happy and have fun - drink and drunk".
The event, which is dubbed 'Shawn Storm Bornday Celebration' is an all-white event that is organised by his Kwashawna Records, in association with Kartel's Adidaheim Records. It's scheduled for A Mi Fi Tell Yuh Lounge and Grill, Runaway Bay, St Ann.
Shawn Storm said the location was specifically chosen to satisfy his rural supporters.
"Kingston a get everything from wi. Dem a get MECA, dem a see wi every day and see wi every weh. Why wi nuffi go dah side deh? Kingston a see wi every minute too much man - every weh Kingston look, dem see wi, and St Ann and the rural area people dem a bawl," he expressed.
Shawn Storm, whose official birthday is on Wednesday, said he is not anticipating a celebration on the day.
"I swear mi neeven have any expectations - it's like, anything comes, mi jus accept it, 'cause a only good can come on that day, yuh nuh. Up to today day mi nuh have no real plans fi Wednesday, mi really a plan fi Satdeh. Suh [Wednesday] just ago be a regular day to me - if mi fi go work, mi guh work and if mi have a video shoot fi go, mi go dweet. Suh mi ago treat mi birthday as a regular day and treat Satdeh as di day," he said.
His recent EP titled New Life debuted at No. 93 on the iTunes reggae album charts, then climbed to the number-five spot on Sunday, following its release last Friday.
