Jamaica sprint star Yohan Blake was almost a Christmas baby. He was born on Boxing Day.

With Christmas just a few days away, Blake told THE STAR yesterday that he is in the process of planning a big family dinner this Christmas.

"The best moment at Christmas is when you can meet with your family and everyone coming together and everyone have this wonderful dinner, and that is what I am planning on Christmas for my family," said Blake.

The sprinter, who was part of Chris Gayle XI in a benefit cricket match at Lucas, Kingston, yesterday, said his close relationship with God has helped him to appreciate Christmas a lot more over the years.

"My family doesn't love the excitement and so I am just going to keep it simple. We are just going to have dinner and play some games with the sisters and brothers," Blake said.

"I look at Christmas as a ritual of coming together religiously and so I am a part of this because I am a religious person," added Blake.

Blake, who is the training partner of triple Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt, won the World Championships 100m title in Daegu in 2011. The former St Jago High School star won silver in the 100m and 200m behind Bolt at the London 2012 Olympics.
