No breakthrough in Hanover massacre

The police are yet to make any major breakthrough in their investigation of the horrific incident which left six dead and four others injured in Logwood, Green Island, in Hanover on Thursday night.
The deceased persons have been identified as 62-year-old Linett Bloomfield; Kerry-Ann Bloomfield, 36; 40-year-old Mark Bloomfield; Alliah Mahabee, 17; 15-year-old Davian Mahabee and 29-year-old Brian Mangaroo.
The injured are currently in hospital, two of whom are in critical condition, police said.
It is reported that four men entered the community at approximately 11 p.m. and kicked open the door of the five-apartment dwelling. Subsequent to firing at the occupants, the home was set ablaze. The vicious attack reportedly took place while all occupants of the home were asleep. The victims were all related.
With investigations into the matter already under way, the police are linking the attack to several unlawful activities which they believe the family was allegedly involved. Chief among them is lottery scamming.
Following the incident, National Security Minister, Peter Bunting, and Police Commissioner, Dr Carl Williams, visited the scene of the gruesome killings yesterday morning.
Investigations continue.
