Phone thief sentenced to nine months

A man accused of stealing a cellular phone from a woman was sentenced to nine months in prison when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Tuesday.

Charged with robbery with aggravation is Kevin Garrison, who pleaded guilty to the offence.

On December 5, the accused man allegedly held up and robbed the female complainant of a cellular phone, valued at $12,000. The accused was armed with a knife.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey probed the matter.

"How many times you get in trouble already, Mr Garrison?" she asked.

Garrison said it was his first time coming before the court for an offence.

"Is there any reason you shouldn't spend some time with me?" Pusey questioned.

However, Garrison could not muster a response.

RM Pusey sentenced the accused to nine months in prison.

A fingerprint order was also made against him.
