January 20, 2016

A 19-year-old male was sentenced to three years in prison when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Friday. He, along with an accomplice, held up, robbed, and stabbed a female.

Charged with robbery with violence is Rolando Richards.

He pleaded guilty to robbery, however, told the court that it was his accomplice who stabbed the complainant repeatedly before fleeing the scene.

PHONE STOLEN

The court heard that the incident took place on January 9 in the Corporate Area and that the complainant was also relieved of her cell phone.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey said, "Tell me why you should not go to jail for five years. If it was you alone, she probably could defended herself, but it was two of you."

Richards said, "Your honour, mi a beg yuh a chance. A di next youth cut her and run off." Richards was subsequently sentenced. A fingerprint order was made against him.
