CALABAR POISED TO WIN CHAMPS - KC expected to give stiff competition, Edwin Allen to run away with girl's title

After four days of intriguing and pulsating competition at the GraceKennedy ISSA Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships inside the National Stadium, both defending champions, Edwin Allen  and Calabar, are favourites to retain their titles.
On the female side, despite several mishaps from Edwin Allen, they still look a cut above the others. The likes of Hydel, St Jago and Holmwood Technical are not posing any serious challenges, as they have not taken advantage of the mishaps from the defending champion. 
Despite some fight early yesterday from Hydel where they kept toe-to-toe with Edwin Allen, the Michael Dyke-coached team, Edwin Allen, showed their class late yesterday evening with a strong showing in the 1500 metres. 

Unlike the girls, it was a more interesting affair among the boys, with Jamaica College leading with 102.5 points, followed by Kingston College with 101 points, Calabar follows with 93.5.

Undaunted by their rival's lead and a few setbacks for their Class 2 and Class 3 teams earlier in the week, Calabar bounced back well to show that they will be hard to beat.

When the event ends tonight, they are expected to make it five wins in a row.
