Vendor killed in Spanish Town

Tensions are rising in the Spanish Town area as employees of the EduCom Co-operative Credit Union in the old capital were forced to rush into their business place yesterday morning following a shooting incident which left one man dead.

A member of staff at the business place, who wanted to remain anonymous, said that "while we were opening to start the morning, we heard gun shots. We had to run inside for cover because we were not sure at the time where the shots were coming from."

The deceased persons has been identified as Joel James, a vendor from Martin Street.

The incident which happened close to a Courts branch marks the third shooting this week in the Spanish Town area.

Information reaching THE STAR is that these incidents are gang related.
