Wigton Windfarm Limited is now accepting applications for a photovoltaics and wind energy course being offered at its Renewable Energy Training Lab which is located at in Rose Hill, Manchester.

The course runs from March 18 to 22. The renewable energy company said that the course was designed to give participants both theoretical and hands-on exposure to wind energy operations and the functions of photovoltaic systems.

Lab exercises will involve installation of grid-tied/stand-alone systems and installation of a small wind turbine. The topics to be explored include an introduction to solar energy and photovoltaics (PV), components of a PV system, and introduction to wind energy.

"Although our primary business is wind energy, our vision is to actively support the expansion of the alternative energy industry which we endeavour to do through the courses offered at the Wigton Renewable Energy Training Lab," said Earl Barrett, general manager, Wigton Windfarm Limited.

"With the growing demand for renewable energy solutions, the general public, entrepreneurs, tertiary students and energy professionals are encouraged to take advantage of the training that we offer," he added.
