Bench warrant stayed in road rage case

A bench warrant which was ordered for the arrest of Promise Green, a St James man who allegedly cut another man with a knife following a traffic collision, has been further stayed until April 24, when it is expected that he will appear in court.

Green was expected to appear in the St James Parish Court last Thursday to answer to the charge of unlawful wounding. However, he failed to appear in court when his matter was called up.

It was then disclosed that a warrant had previously been ordered for his arrest on February 13 after he failed to appear in court on that date. However, that warrant had been stayed until Thursday’s court date.

Judge Sandria Wong-Small opted to give Green one more chance to show up in court, and so she further stayed the warrant’s execution until April 24. If Green does not appear in court at that time, the warrant will be issued for him to be brought before the court.

Allegations are that sometime in November 2018, Green was involved in a motor vehicle crash in which he reportedly collided with the complainant’s car.

An argument ensued between the two men, and during the confrontation, Green brandished a knife and cut the complainant on the left side of his face.

A police report was subsequently made, and Green was arrested and charged.
