Police report on stabbing dismissed by sex workers

July 27, 2020

Some commercial sex workers in Ocho Rios, St Ann, have sought to rubbish a police report that seems to suggest that a man who was stabbed to death last Friday night in that town was trying to defend them.

"Defen' who? A we haffi defend wi self, wi nuh have nobody a defen' wi," one woman told THE STAR last night. But they declined to speak further about the incident, which has pushed the murder figure in St Ann, one of the highest on the island, even higher.

Police report states that at around 10:20 p.m. Friday night, an unidentified male, suspected to be Michael Thompson, otherwise called Scrape Head, of Mansfield Heights, Ocho Rios, was at the Tastee restaurant car park with some commercial sex workers, when a dispute developed between one of the sex workers and a client.

The deceased intervened and a knife was used to inflict a stab wound to the chest. He ran from the car park to a nearby Texaco service station where he collapsed. He was assisted by three of the sex workers into a taxi and taken to the St Ann's Bay Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The attacker escaped in a white station wagon motor car.

A group of four questioned the legitimacy of the report, and said they are on their own and there is no one to defend them but themselves.

But they shied away from answering any questions on the incident.
