Artists from several parishes across Jamaica turned out to display their works in the inaugural Art in the Village showcase, held recently at Island Village Shopping Plaza, Ocho Rios, St Ann.

Sculptor Marlon Frenceco from St Catherine said that he was happy to be part of an event that enabled artists to show their work.

"We're here to showcase some of our fine art pieces made from lignum vitae wood," he told THE STAR. "The feedback has been great; it's looking good, it's looking bright."

Among the many pieces he had on display was one of his favourite pieces, 'Peter Tosh Chanting on the Mic'. "You can feel the vibration," he said.

Renowned ceramist Phillip Supersad, who operates from North Street in Kingston, was also at the festival and expressed his delight at being part of the event.

Also on show were works by sculptor Fitz Mitchell, abstract artist Heather Gordon, ceramist Claude Hoilett, Lennox Coke and Neetu Vaswani.
