Unbearable grief as Cocoa Piece victims laid to rest

There were screams and cries of anguish from neighbours as the hearses bearing the bodies of Kemesha Wright and her four children led a motorcade which passed their Cocoa Piece, Clarendon home this morning.

Wright and her children were slain in their dwelling on June 21. Several mourners could not hold back the tears as the pink and white caskets, stark reminders of the massacre, were wheeled inside the Stuart Hall Auditorium at Clarendon College in Chapelton where the funeral service is being held.

Overcome with grief, Gwendolyn McKnight, mother and grandmother of the deceased, is being consoled by several mourners. McKnight's father, 81-year-old James Wright died days after the tragedy.

Thousands of mourners have flocked the auditorium to bid farewell to the mother and children. Law enforcement officers are struggling to keep order, and as such, viewing of the bodies was discontinued.

"It cannot be. I'm asking and imploring everyone of you, please clear the entrances and exits," said Senior Superintendent Glenford Miller, commanding officer of the Clarendon police.

Kemesha and her children, Kimanda, Sharalee, Rafaella and Kishawn Jr, will be laid to rest at the Suttons Memorial Cemetery.
