Man tries to break into Cashpot machine
A Corporate Area man who damaged a grille while attempting to access a Cashpot machine will spend the Yuletide season in custody.
Amari Taylor is set to return to court on January 10, 2024 to be sentenced for malicious destruction of property. Taylor explained to Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque on Wednesday that he cut the grille as he was "under pressure" and sought to "care for his yute". The age of the child was not shared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
Taylor informed the judge that he is willing to compensate the complainant in the amount of $130,000 for the damages he caused by cutting the grille. He begged the judge to be released from custody as he already spent three months behind bars. However, the judge indicated that there are no available dates left in the year and that Taylor would have to return to court next year. He was then remanded in custody.
