Police in Guyana destroy billions of dollars in marijuana

January 12, 2024

The Guyanese police, in a joint-operation with the Guyana Defence Force, destroyed over 6000 marijuana plants, and over 8000 pounds of already cultivated marijuana on Friday.

It is reported that the operation led to the destruction of over GUY$6 billion worth of the illicit drug.

The police made the discovery at a house in Upper Berbice River community of Gaetroy and followed a tip off.

But they say no one was found at the scene and that all of the marijuana found along with the farm, a wooden house and two camps were destroyed by law enforcement officials.
