'Mad Ras' moved to Gun Court

January 16, 2024

Nigel 'Mad Ras' Bailey, who has been listed several times on the police's 'Wanted Wednesday' list, is to face the Gun Court in February after being held with an illegal firearm earlier this month.

His lawyer, Maurice McCurdy, told the St Catherine Parish Court today that he desired to apply for bail on Bailey's behalf.

However. presiding judge Yvette Wenthworth-Miller told the lawyer she was not minded to hear the application, and would transfer it to where proper jurisdiction lies.

It is reported that on January 5, the police conducted an operation in Top Mountain, Kitson Town, St Catherine during which Bailey was identified and accosted.

He was held with a Smith and Wesson pistol affixed with a magazine with 15 rounds of ammunition.  A further search revealed an additional 39 rounds of ammunition.

He was arrested and subsequently charged with possession of prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
