UPDATE: Woman seen in video abusing child arrested

The police have confirmed that the woman who was seen in a now viral social media abusing a child has been taken into custody. 

She is to be interviewed by the police in the presence of her lawyer. 

In the meantime, the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) confirmed earlier today that child, who is 15-years-old, is receiving medical attention at hospital.

“Our Investigations Team was able to quickly locate the child. We can confirm that the woman seen assaulting her in the video is her mother. The child in now in the care of father and she is currently receiving medical attention at the hospital,” said CEO Mrs. Laurette Adams-Thomas.

The statement from the agency also confirmed that the child is now in the care of her father. 

“We will continue to follow up with the child to offer psychological, psychosocial and any other forms of necessary intervention,” Adams-Thomas said.
