Former MP Jolyan Silvera charged with wife's murder
Former member of parliament for St Mary Western, Jolyan Silvera has been charged with the murder of his wife Melissa.
Detectives assigned to the police's Major Investigation Division (MID) laid charges today after a third string of questions.
Melissa, 42, was laid to rest last Friday at the St Andrew parish church.
She was murdered at her home located along Diamond Road in Stony Hill, St Andrew.
It was initially reported that she died in her sleep on November 10 of natural causes a month shy of her eighth anniversary.
An autopsy performed three weeks after her death unearthed at least three bullet fragments in her body. This prompted the police to launch a murder investigation.
Following recent updates, Silvera was taken into custody and spent the night at a corporate area lock up.
Attorney Richard Lynch reportedly attended the question and answer today.
