A Corporate Area woman is at the centre of a multimillion-dollar fraud, in which she is accused of stealing more than $5 million from her employers.

Camille Burgher appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday, arraigned on an indictment for nine counts of larceny as a servant. Prosecutors contend that Burgher stole the funds to pay for medical bills and fund her sister's school fee. She did not enter a plea but lamented the unfavourable conditions of the facility in which she is being held.

"I'm happy to hear that she is uncomfortable. I'm glad to hear that our jails are not favourable for her. That's good news," said Senior Parish Judge Sanchia Burrell.

Burgher was remanded in custody until July 8, when a bail application is to be heard. The accused was also made the subject of a fingerprint order.
