Man overstays in supermarket bathroom - Spends night locked inside
A Corporate Area man who spent a night in a supermarket, is to be sentenced in November for damaging security cameras.
Chevaun Davis pleaded guilty to malicious destruction of property, following an incident at a supermarket in Half-Way Tree on July 12. Attorney-at-law Matthew Hyatt explained to Senior Parish Judge Paula Blake-Powell that his client visited the supermarket to use the restroom facilities.
"Some time had passed and he was locked in the store," Hyatt argued. He added that his client pleaded not guilty to shopbreaking and larceny.
"So he was using the restroom all night?" the judge quizzed.
"Well, he was having some bowel issues, Your Honour. It happens to the best of us," the attorney responded.
Prosecutors at the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court contend that, when Davis was arrested, more than $50,000 worth of coins were found in his possession. Davis was remanded in custody until November 7, when he is expected to be sentenced. He was made the subject of a fingerprint order and a social enquiry report was requested by the judge.
