A garbage collector and janitor made their first appearance in the criminal courts on Wednesday, facing allegations that they robbed a Corporate Area man of his personal items valued at almost $30,000.

Allegations detail that on August 1, the accused - Harold Littlejohn, 42, and Kenroy Smith, 39 - approached the complainant while he was walking along Knutsford Boulevard and robbed him of headphones, an iPhone and a necklace. It is alleged that the complainant received a cut on a finger during the melee as one of the men was armed with a knife. Following the robbery, both men left the area and the complainant made a report to the nearby New Kingston Police Post. The men were subsequently arrested and charged with robbery with aggravation and unlawful wounding.

The men appeared before Parish Judge Simone Walker-McFarlane and indicated that they neither had legal representation nor could they afford it.

Littlejohn and Smith were remanded in custody until October 10 to settle their legal representation.
