Man accused of stealing friend’s gaming consoles

A Corporate Area man is facing allegations that he stole his friend's Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 gaming consoles from his house.

Shawn-Dee Newell was subsequently charged with larceny from the dwelling following the alleged incident on July 24 at midday. Prosecutors at the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court contend that Newell went to the complainant's house when he was not there and indicated to his parents that he wanted to pick up an item. He was allowed entry to the house and left with the gaming consoles in a black scandal bag. When the complainant arrived home and saw the items missing, he contacted the police and informed them of Newell's address. The accused man's house was searched, and the items, valued at $161,000, were found in the scandal bag.

Following his first appearance before Parish Judge Simone Walker-McFarlane, Newell pleaded not guilty. The matter was set for mention on October 16.
