OUR investigating complaints about high light bills
The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) says it has become increasingly aware of several utility customer complaints regarding increasing electricity bills, following the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
“The OUR has initiated steps to investigate these complaints. Once the relevant information has been received from the Jamaica Public Service Company Limited (JPS), it will be analysed to allow us to determine what regulatory intervention is necessary,” the agency said in a press release today.
“We will keep the public updated on the progress of this matter.”
says he is disturbed by complaints from Jamaica Public Service (JPS) customers about an "unusual and major spike" in their latest electricity bills.
In a media release Sunday evening, Energy Minister Daryl Vaz said he would formally write to the leadership of the OUR insisting on an investigation into multiple complaints about the issue.
The energy minister also demanded an explanation from the JPS for the spike.
