Update | Escapee on the run gets 18 years behind bars
The man who fled custody at the Supreme Court building in downtown Kingston today was sentenced to 18 years’ imprisonment in his absence.
Twenty-two-year-old Anthony ‘Pops’ Williams, of Allman Town in Kingston, was recently found guilty of illegal possession of firearm and assault at common law.
He was sentencing in the Gun Court by Justice Calys Wiltshire.
Before escaping, Williams was already serving time in prison.
In April 2022, he was sentenced over 12 years for illegal possession of firearm and over 14 years from wounding with intent.
Meanwhile, a police manhunt remains under way to capture Williams.
His attorney, Kymberli Whittaker, is appealing to Williams to surrender to the police.
