MoBay draw level

MONTEGO Bay and Portmore United are now joint leaders of the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) following yesterday's sixth round of matches.

The visiting Montego Bay team came from a goal down on a double strike from Dino Williams to beat this season's surprise candidate, Reno, 2-1 after Roshane Sharpe put them ahead early in the contest at Frome.

The win lifted Mobay to 13 points, the same as Portmore who played to a 0-0 draw with Boys Town at Barbican complex.

At Barbican, Portmore were the better team for most parts although both teams had good opportunities to grab a winner.

The St Catherine team hit the woodwork in the first-half but it was in the closing stages of the match that they had their best chance of snatching the victory.

Rodian Jennings had a header cleared off the line in the 88th minute, while Kareem Manning fired over from 12 yards after great work from Paul Wilson.

Though disappointed at failing to take full points against a struggling Boys Town outfit, Portmore's coach Jeffrey Hewitt said they were still able to improve their points tally.

"We want to be as consistent as possible, we wanted three points but we played on the road and got a point and once you can get a point on the road you have to be very thankful. We are determine not to lose," he said.

Boys' Town were second best for most of the game but they did have a bright spell early into the second-half and had a couple chances of their own to steal the win.

Their best chance came on 85 minutes when Shamar Nicholson's header was cleared off the line and defender Rupert Murray could not turned the rebound from five yards on goal.

Coach, Andrew Price, said the team continues to improve each week, but believes their finishing has not been good enough.

"Whenever we play at home we want three points. I think if we were a little more clinical we could have taken all three," he said.

In other games, Rivoli stunned Humble Lion 2-0 on Kemar Bennett's brace at Effortville, while Tivoli Gardens continue Waterhouse misery with a 4-0 thumping at Edward Seaga Complex.
