Former Jamaica Under-19 opener, Oraine Williams, believes his recent stint in Ireland has made him a much better player.

Williams, 23, finished top the run-scoring chart with 738 runs at an average of 38 while representing Eglinton in the Ireland First Division League.

He was also third in on the bowling chart with 41 wickets, bowling his medium pace, and with it in the process copped the leading all-rounder award.

"It was a very competitive league with first-class players from South Africa and Australia, as well as most of Ireland players, taking part," stated Williams.

"Therefore, to know that I dominated, and finished on top of these players, makes me feel really good."

A past invitee of the Jamaica senior trials, Williams now hopes to transfer his form locally.

He plays for St Catherine CC, and, according to him, as they seek to defend their one-day title; his intention is to impress the national selectors.

"The experience of playing in cold conditions, with the balls swinging a lot, and the pitches always green, has made me a better player," said Williams, whose team finished third in the league, and, runners-up in the league knockout.

"Also, as the main runscorer and lead wicket taker in the team, it taught me well how to deal with expectations.

"It is for me now to take this experience into my game locally, and hopefully it will result in me getting a national call-up."

The national team is currently preparing for the second instalment of the four-day WICB Professional League, as well as the NAGICO Insurance Super 50 tournament in January.
