Bruce Bicknell, chairman of Jamaica Premier League outfit Waterhouse FC, has expressed his gratitude to Wisynco and its malt drink brand MPOWER for their kind sportsmanship of $2 million, which will help to cover some of the club's financial expenses.

Jake Mahfood, commercial development manager of Wisynco, handed over his company's cheque to Bicknell at half time during Sunday's match against Treasure Beach at the Waterhouse Mini Stadium. Waterhouse won the game 1-0.

"Wisynco's William and Andrew Mahfood have been known for their generosity in Jamaica with their contributions to various charities and this is a big part of what they are doing," said Bicknell. "Donating this two million dollars is a great part of what they are doing and on behalf of Waterhouse club and community we are grateful for it and we are looking forward to working with them in the future.

"This will go a long way in assisting the club as we strive to continue to improve throughout the season," Bicknell said.

Waterhouse, who are currently fifth in the standings with 30 points, have now won three consecutive games this season under their new coach, Argentina-born Javier Ainstein, who took over the job on January 7.

"We have overhauled the club in the last two months with new coaches, new players and a whole new disciplinary aspect has been permeating throughout the team and there is also a new sense of urgency within the club," Bicknell pointed out.

Jake Mafood said that his company is very delighted to be associated with Waterhouse as they strive for excellence this season.

"This is a commitment from MPOWER to partner with Waterhouse so that we can connect our nutritious malt brand with the community and support local sport and youth," he said.

"We think that there is a lot of talent and we believe that with this sponsorship, it will bring a lot of opportunities to the community and the youths. Wisynco has had a history of donating and creating opportunities for communities with many of our other beverages," Mafood added.
