Scorpions on the way up, says skipper Miller

Captain of the Jamaica Scorpions, Nikita Miller, is expressing satisfaction with the state of the team heading into their return-leg matches in the WICB Regional Super50 Tournament in Barbados.

The Scorpions are second in Group B on nine points behind leaders Barbados Pride, who are on 19 points.

This is after recording two wins and two defeats in their four matches so far.

Tomorrow, they will play Combined Campuses and Colleges, who they lost to in the first leg at Kensington Oval.

"I was very, very pleased with our returns in our last two games," said Miller.

Out-of-form opener

"We lost against Barbados by one wicket, but I was pleased with the character and fight we showed," said Miller. "We then took that momentum into the game against ICC Americas, where we got good total, and defended it well."

The Scorpions batted first and posted 251 for five with all-rounder Roman Powell hitting 56 not out and out-of-form opener John Campbell, who was demoted to the middle order, getting 66 not out.

Middle-order batsman Andre McCarthy, who was left out of the team in the opening two games, also chipped in with 63.

ICC Americas were then held to 187 with leg-spinner Damion Jacobs claiming five for 24.

"It's always good when you win a game as it gives the team a lot of confidence," Miller emphasised.
