Windies toil on Day 1 in historic Sabina Test
A partnership of 118 between middle-order batsmen Roston Chase and Shane Dowrich eased the pressure on the West Indies, who got off to a difficult start to the first Test in the three-match series against Pakistan.
At stumps on day one, the Windies totalled 244 for 7, with captain Jason Holder on 30, and Divendra Bishoo, 23, as the current batting partnership.
Pakistan won the toss and sent the home side in to bat and opener Kraigg Brathwaite went for a duck, then debutant Shimron Hetmyer followed soon after for 11. Shai Hope was next to go, as he was dismissed for two, then Vishual Singh, another new comer, went for nine. Kieran Powell went after lunch, when he was dismissed for 33.
Chase has so far top scored in the innings on 63, with Dowrich next best, as he went for 56.
