Jacobs optimistic ahead of series decider

West Indies A leg-spinner Damion Jacobs believes his performances in the on-going three-match Test series against Sri Lanka A is good and is looking to taking his form into the series decider at Sabina Park, starting today.

Jacobs has so far garnered 10 wickets in two matches, including Man of the Match hauls of six for 27 and two for 33 in the first game at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Complex.

This has placed the Jamaican second on the West Indies bowling chart so far with Antiguan off-spinner Rahkeem Cornwall, 11 wickets, leading the charge.

''I am looking forward to the decider in Kingston, here, given Sabina Park is also the home of the Jamaica Scorpions, and I am always doing well here,'' expressed Jacobs, who has an outstanding average of 21.91 from 36 matches.

This includes 11 five-wicket innings-hauls, and three 10 wicket match-hauls, including best figures of eight for 47, and 10 for 110, respectively.

Looking forward

''I set myself goals for the series and right now I am on course for that. I would rate my performance so far as Ok.

''The first match I got the Man of the Match award, and in the second game the Sri Lankans batted us out of the match.

''I am therefore looking forward to the third game to see how well I can perform, and see if we can win the series from there,'' added the 32-year-old.

The series, which represents a return-leg after the West Indies ''A'' went down 2-1 to then hosts Sri Lanka ''A'' late last year, according to Jacobs, has also provided him the opportunity to continue to try and impress the regional selectors.

''Every ''A'' team series is a series for you to show the selectors that you are still here and still putting in the work. This tour is no different,'' he said.

''The series is almost as good as playing at the highest level given the calibre of players you get to bowl to at times.

''Therefore, if you perform at this level, you know that you can take that performance forward if you get selected for the higher level.''

The four-day series will be followed by a three-match one-day series, with the first two matches scheduled for Sabina Park, and the third and final, the Trelawny Multi-purpose Complex.
