Come back, boys! Red Brigade former players and fans yearn to rescue club

Wednesday's defeat at the hands of University of the West Indies (UWI) FC seems to be the final straw in Boys' Town Football Club's quest to stave off relegation from the Red Stripe Premier League.

The stark reality has evoked the emotions of many members of the team's community, Trench Town, including former player, Oneil 'Bigga' Thompson, who said that he has flirted with the thought of returning home to help the Red Brigade.

"Even the other day, I was thinking of going back. I was thinking about what can I do to help them because it's my place and it will always be my place, so the emotions are natural," Thompson explained.

HASN'T IMPROVED

But emotions may not be enough to lure the Arnett Gardens Football Club captain back home, as he quickly pointed out that the problems at the club, that caused him to leave in the first place, have not been rectified.

"I love Boys' Town, but I don't support the way they function in terms of the way they play," Thompson said. "[Since I left] it hasn't improved, and I don't think they (management) have tried anything to improve that."

Boys' Town was convincingly beaten 2-0 by UWI FC at Barbican Complex on Wednesday, making it their 15th defeat of the season. They are rooted to the bottom of the table on 14 points.

A number of supporters told Star Sports that it pains their hearts to see so many players who were born and raised in the community playing for their rival team, Arnett Gardens.

"We want the baller dem come back home," Omar Barrett said. "You have Oneil Thompson, Marvin Morgan, Vishinul Harris. A dem a help other teams win, so if we can sort our financial thing then we can get them fi come home."
