Time running out for MoBay United

President of Montego Bay United, Orville Powell, had boasted at the beginning of the year that his club will emerge champions of the Red Stripe Premier League although he was in the drop zone at the time.

Now with two games remaining in the preliminary round, he is not so sure. In fact Montego Bay are currently in eighth position in the points standing and may not make the play-offs.

"It is concerning because we will have to dig deeper now. With two games to go we will have to depend on results from other teams," Powell said. "But we are committed to fight until the end."

STRUGGLING

But he insisted the desire to win the league, remains the same.

"We are going to be in the top-six and from there we can win the league," Powell said.

Powell boldly predicted last December that his team would win the league despite being positioned in eighth place and struggling to string back-to-back victories together at the time.

Powell told STAR Sports yesterday that his team's current form, following a 2-1 loss to Waterhouse, is disappointing.

"We have been hot and cold," Powell said. "It is getting tougher and tougher because we are not entirely in control of our destiny."

Montego Bay United (41 points) will face runaway leaders Portmore United (63) and ninth place Humble Lion FC (40) in their final two matches.
