Christopher Taylor, the Calabar High School captain and the defending champion in the Class One 400 metres, has his sights set on breaking Usain Bolt's Class One 200 metres record at the 2018 ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Championships.

Taylor, STAR Sports can reveal, has opted not to defend his title in the one-lap event as he is channelling most of his energy into going below the 20.25 seconds mark set by world record holder Bolt in 2003. Bolt set the record while competing in the colours of William Knibb High.

he Calabar star who has a season's best of 20.36 seconds for the half-lap race clocked 21.61 easing up in his heat at the National Stadium last night and is tipped to get the better of teammate Anthony Carpenter. Carpenter clocked 20.94 in winning his 200m heat.

In the 400m, Taylor has been replaced by Shemar Chambers, the lead off man on the school's record breaking 4x400m team.
