Taylor backs H'View to be stronger next season

Harbour View FC assistant coach, Fabian Taylor, said he hopes the experience his young charges have garnered playing in the quarter-finals of the Red Stripe Premier League will enable them to do better next year.

Taylor, who attributes the Stars of East 3-1 on aggregate loss to Waterhouse FC to his team not making use of their chances, said there are several lessons his players could learn from their brief play-off run.

"I think our young players gained some valuable experience. After the game, we told them not get down on themselves and just look at the areas where they can improve," Taylor pointed out. "I think moments in both games we were in control and then we gave that up. So what we have to do is learn not to give up what we have."

Harbour View were looking to striker Peter-Lee Vassell to provide the goals for them this year, but the former Cornwall College standout struggled to find the back of the net in the first half of the season. This caused his team to struggle to make it to the play-offs.

"It took the youngsters a little time for them to understand how we wanted them to play, but I think they eventually got it in the latter part of the season and we can just hope that they build on this," Taylor said. "In the last part of the competition, he (Vassell) was more composed and you could see it, but we would like for him to be consistent right throughout the entire season."

He continued: "But we should come better next year and I believe we will be able to achieve our objective, which is to win the title, as usual."
