Arnett will miss 'Bigga' - Waite
Arnett Gardens coach Jerome Waite admits that his team will miss the presence of former captain O'Neil 'Bigga' Thompson, when they take on Central FC from Trinidad and Tobago in the final round of the FLOW CONCACAF Caribbean Club Championships this weekend.
"If O'Neil Thompson was here, his experience would have made a huge difference, but we just have to focus on the players who are here and hopefully we can get some positive results," Waite said.
Thompson told STAR Sports a day after the 'Junglists' were knocked out of the Red Stripe Premier League at the semi-final stage, that he would be moving on from the club at the end of the season.
Thompson , who led the Junglists to two RSPL titles, said a change of culture at the club has rendered his leadership style useless, and he therefore felt a change was necessary.
"I have been at Arnett Gardens for 11 years, and I don't think certain things are valued as they used to be. I don't think I can continue with them (Arnett Gardens) in terms of leading them in the right direction, so I think I will have to move to somewhere else," Thompson told STAR Sports at the time.
Speaking yesterday, Thompson said that he wishes the team the best, as they try to forge a path to the CONCACAF Champions League.
"I wish them all the best" Thompson said. "I have been there for a very long time so I naturally would want to see them do well."
He added: "Arnett Gardens have a very strong unit and I think they have people with the capability of doing really well."
