Arnett's defender to miss entire 2018-19 season

Around this time every year local football players are buzzing with excitement as the start of the Red Stripe Premier league season draws closer.

One player who is not feeling the buzz though is Arnett Gardens' talented defender, O'Neil Anderson who will miss the entire 2018-19 season due to a broken ankle.

Anderson, sustained the injury in the latter stages of Arnett's campaign last season and was on pace to make a comeback for the beginning of the upcoming season, but his plans were placed on hold when he started feeling discomfort during his rehabilitation.

SECOND SURGERY

"I haven't recovered from the injury so I don't think I will be playing this season," Anderson said. "I was supposed to do a second surgery to remove the screws from my foot but that didn't happen on time."

He continued: "I think I will be doing it (surgery) in November, but I would have to rehab as well so I don't think I will be ready for this season."

The former Camperdown High School player is disappointed he won't be playing as it has derailed his plans of making his way into the national programme.

"I really wanted to impress the selectors this year and I had planned on working really hard, but I will have to just try next year because I am still young," the 21-year-old said.

Anderson came to national prominence last season when he was called up for the MLS Caribbean Combine, but almost lost his chance due to his club's clumsy handling of his travel arrangements.
