Wolmer's hoping to win over school community
Wolmer's Boys School's Manning Cup team is planning to bring some excitement in their Group G encounter against Waterford High School today at Heroes Circle in the ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup football.
After winning their opening game 1-0 against JosÈ MartÌ, Coach Alex Thomas told STAR Sports that the aim is to win over the school community as they are hoping to end their 24-year title drought in the competition.
"The main thing is to get the three points, but we want to play exciting football because it is our first home game," Thomas said. "We know the school is behind us, but this will be the first time that they will be seeing the team, and so we want to impress them. We have not won (Manning Cup title) for 24 years, and the aim is to win this year, so we would want to show them (school community) what we are made of."
Thomas will be naming an unchanged starting team from the last game, and as usual, they are expecting midfielders Shamour McLean, Dushane Bernard, and Rushane Thompson to bring the flair.
In other games in the group today, Pembroke Hall will host JosÈ MartÌ, while last year's beaten semi-finalist, Holy Trinity High, will play Edith Dalton James.
"We are looking for a better game than our first, knowing that we are playing the group leader," said coach of Holy Trinity Devon Anderson. "We won the first game against Waterford, but it was a very dismal showing."
