Arnett hungry for new streak
Jerome Waite believes his team, Arnett Gardens FC, could go on another extended unbeaten streak this season, as his side has been building momentum from their involvement in the Caribbean Club Championships over the summer.
Arnett Gardens went 19 games unbeaten in the 2017-18 Red Stripe Premier League last season. So far this season, they have beaten Humble Lion 2-1 in their opening game, and will go up against Cavalier SC on Sunday at the Stadium East field.
"Whatever we did last year, that is the thing we are looking forward to because going 19 games unbeaten was no easy feat," Waite said. "We were playing over the summer so that will give us an advantage and the fact that injury worries are minimal."
Waite also believes the stability of the core of the team will contribute to the team's success as well as they have been playing together for the past three seasons.
"When you look at our team, it is the same set of players we have been using since we won in 2015 and they are young and still in their prime," Waite said. "I think after the first five games, we would be able to tell whether the team could go all the way, but I think we will get better because of the strong nucleus that we have and also the players who have joined us. We want to continue winning, but we are also wary that the team we will be going up against also won, and will also want to continue their winning streak," Waite said.
