Positive signs for H'View despite defeat

Despite a 2-0 defeat to defending champions Portmore United in their last encounter in the Red Stripe Premier League, Harbour View FC assistant coach, Fabian Taylor, saw some positive signs that he believes could set them up for better results as the new season takes life.

"It was our first home game of the season and we hoped that we would have started with a victory, but nevertheless we played some good football. We had more possession of the ball and we were beaten by two wonderful goals," Taylor said.

Rondee Smith pulled off two stunning strikes in the first half of the game to give Portmore their first win of the season.

But it was Tyreek Magee and Peter-Lee Vassell's dominance in the midfield which impressed Taylor.

"Young Tyreek Magee and Peter-Lee Vassell stood up well in the midfield," Taylor said. "If they keep on doing what we are telling them to do in training, then it should bear some fruits as the season goes on."

The Stars of the East are hoping Magee and Vassell will continue their dominance in midfield when they take on Waterhouse tomorrow at Drewsland, but they are also looking to make some changes up front to capitalise on the chances the midfielders are creating.

"We are thinking of making some changes up front just to freshen up things a bit, but are not sure yet. We have to just see how the rest of the training week plays out," Taylor said.
