Corner turned? - Taylor believes H'View has broken losing habit

After his side registered their second win of the 2018-19 Red Stripe Premier League season, assistant coach of Harbour View, Fabian Taylor, believes his charges have now shrugged off the losing bug which is threatening to end their 23-year stay in top-flight football.

Deshane Beckford scored the game's only goal against a weakened Cavalier FC team at the Harbour View Stadium on Wednesday to put 'The Stars of the East' on eight points after nine games.

"The players are young and it was taking some time for them to grasp what we are trying to teach them, but I believe they are getting it, and we might have just turned the corner this season," Beckford said. "Tyreek Magee is away with the national Under-20 team, and what he is doing over there is a testament that we have the quality in our team. They just need time to develop."

At the end of the first round (first 10 games) last year, Harbour View were on 13 points and turned around the season to finish in the top six to book a spot in the play-offs. And with one game to go, Taylor is confident they can finish close to the 13 points.

"Last year, we had just a couple more points than we have now, and we were able to turn it (the season) around and make it to the play-offs. I believe we can do the same this season," Taylor said.

Harbour View is scheduled to play away to Reno FC this weekend and Taylor is confident of victory. "We tend to play better away from home these days, so we are expecting a win," Taylor said.
