Stay or stray? - Anderson considering options as Trinity suffer another JC blow

After his team was dealt another blow by Jamaica College (JC), Devon Anderson, coach of Holy Trinity High School, said he is seriously considering his options and is to decide whether he'll be remaining at the helm of the school's football programme.

JC came from behind to beat Holy Trinity 2-1 last Saturday night in the ISSA Champions Cup after Trinity wasted a flurry of chances in the first half of the match.

Anderson has been in charge for the past seven seasons and is credited for lifting the school among the contenders for major schoolboy football titles under his tenure.

He took the school to the Super Cup final, now Champions Cup, in 2014, where they were beaten by JC.

Coincidentally, they were also knocked out at the semi-final stage of the Manning Cup by the boys from Old Hope Road in 2016 and 2017.

And, after they were eliminated by the nagging Blues at the quarter-final stage of the Manning and Champions cups this year, Anderson's future as the school's coach is now hanging in the balance.

"We got many chances today, and even from the second round (of the Manning Cup), we created many chances, and in a game of goals, if you don't score your chances, you will come out a loser," he said.

"Every season when we prepare a unit, I am looking at a title, whether the team is young or not, and it is a great disappointment that every year, at the end, we are coming out short. I guess I just have to go back and check where I went wrong, take some time off and consider my options."

Holy Trinity have never won a major trophy in schoolboy football.
