Williams shortlisted for IAAF Rising Star Award
World Under-20 sprint double champion, Briana Williams, has been listed as one of the four finalists for the IAAF Female Rising Star Award.
It was announced yesterday that Williams, World Under-20 400m hurdles record holder Sydney McLaughlin of the USA, Ethiopia Meserat Belete for the half Marathon, Meskerem Mamo of Ethiopia in the 3,000 and 5,000 metres and Celliphine Chespol of Kenya in the 3,000m steeplechase are all vying for the award.
Williams was nominated for the award because she captured the 100m in 11.16 seconds and the 200m in a national Junior record of 22.50 seconds at the World Under-20 championships in Finland in July.
It was also revealed that he exploits at the Carita Games earlier this year where she also won the sprint double.
The winner will be announced live on stage at the IAAF Athletics Awards 2018 in Monaco on Tuesday 4 December.
