Cavalier FC head coach, Rudolph Speid, described his team's 0-0 draw with strugglers Reno in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) at Stadium East yesterday as 'very disappointing and very lacklustre'.

The result also means that Cavalier, who came into the round in third place on 23 points, slipped one place to fourth with 24 points and Speid thought they were not as good as they could have been.

"We were slow today," he said. "We passed the ball well but not fast enough. Reno had a plan of their own, and after half-time it was very difficult for us because they just stayed behind the ball and defended in a lot of numbers, so it was difficult to break through. Later on we got a few opportunities but it was not enough," he said.

However, he noted that the loss of team captain and talisman, Chevone Marsh, early in the first-half was a major blow to their offensive thrust. "The loss of Chevone Marsh affected us," Speid said. "He was the one getting behind the defence in the first-half and we lost him due to injury. But we were not good and could have been a lot better. With our attack, we should have been able to get goals, but we lost a part of it (Marsh). So we are disappointed but at least we got a point," he added.

Cavalier started the game very slowly and even though they bossed possession, it was Reno who showed the greater initiative going forward. The best effort of the first-half came from Reno's Javier Brown curling free kick that just missed the upright. After the interval, it was Reno who looked the more purposeful and created a number of openings.

But Cavalier came to life midway the second-half and had good chances through Nicholas Hamilton, a Jamoi Topey header, and in the last minute Tevin Scott dragged a shot wide, while Topey had to clear Brown's curling shot off the line after goalkeeper Mark Bryan was caught out of position.

Reno's Godfrey Drummond said the result was a positive one for his 10th-place team. "It's suffice to say we came on the road and wanted a positive result and got it. We set certain objectives and one was not to concede this evening, and with a little luck we could have gotten all three points," he said.

Reno remain above the relegation zone on goal difference over Harbour View. Both are tied on 13 points.
