Ref strike affecting Cavalier preparations

Coach of Cavalier FC, Rudolph Speid, says the postponement of yesterday's Red Stripe Premier League games will impact his preparation for a clash with league leaders Portmore United on Sunday.

"It will affect us from a technical standpoint, because we were preparing to play and (yesterday's) game would have been a part of the preparation for the game on Sunday," Speid said.

Cavalier was scheduled to play Harbour View at the Harbour View Stadium.

Speid's team was edged 1-0 by the struggling Stars of The East the last time the teams met.

But their wait for revenge will be a bit longer as, for the second consecutive day, RSPL matches have been postponed after industrial action taken by match officials over wages owed.

Coincidentally, Speid's last defeat came in that encounter against Harbour View. They have now played nine games without a loss.

CONSISTENT

"We have been pretty consistent in our last nine games. Surprisingly, we won five of those games on the road and drew the rest at home," Speid explained. "I believe the reason why that happens is because the teams come to Stadium East (Cavalier's field) and 'parked the bus' (focused heavily on defending), but when they are playing at home, they play to win, so it is easier to attack them."

Cavalier are third in the RSPL table, five points behind Portmore.
