In-form Cavalier forward Nicholas Hamilton has expressed his delight after receiving his first senior call-up to the Reggae Boyz local-based 20-man squad.

Hamilton, who is a former Holy Trinity High School Manning Cup standout, said he is now looking to cement his place in the national team.

"This is a dream come through," said Hamilton. "I always want to represent my country and I have always worked hard for it over the years; but this season, I have worked a lot harder and my dream has finally come through with this call-up to the national team," he said. "It is a squad full of local-based players, and you have the (Concacaf) Nations League, the Gold Cup and a lot of friendly matches coming, and then World Cup qualifiers. So I just have to keep myself in the squad and follow the coaches' instructions and just put my best football forward when I go out on the field," Hamilton said. "My aim is just to continue working hard and ensure that I keep my place in the squad."

The 22-year-old Hamilton is regarded as one of the top players in the Red Stripe Premier League, where he has netted nine goals so far this season.

The pacey Hamilton, who sometimes plays as left winger, scored a brilliant goal on Monday night to help Cavalier to a 1-0 win over Waterhouse at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.

He added that this season has been a remarkable one for him so far, and he is hoping that his efforts will help Cavalier to win the title this season.

"I just have to continue working hard and put my best forward, because this has been my best season so far," Hamilton said. "My performance this season is a result of my family pushing me, and coach helping me. So I have to go out there and make them proud.

"I am also looking to see if can get a contract overseas, because I know I have all the required skills and discipline which will enable me to take my talent to the international stage."
